WHO PENNED THE TRUMP OP-ED?

The anonymous New York Times op-ed written by "a senior official in the Trump administration" set Washington on fire Wednesday, elevating one question in the minds of even casual politicos.

There are some clues within the 965-word essay of who the "coward" (or courageous truth-teller, depending on your perspective) really is.

Who done it?

  1. Mike Pence...

Vice President Pence is an early favorite thanks perhaps to the essay's use of the term "lodestar," a phrase he has employed.

  2. Jeff Sessions...

Sessions sticks out as a possibility for a simple reason: He's got motive. No one has been more publicly maligned by Trump than his attorney general.

  3. Kellyanne Conway...

Kellyanne's husband, who notoriously hates the Trump administration, repeatedly retweeted the piece. Conway also said she's "not really sure it matters" who penned the op-ed anyway.

  4. Other...

Here are others suspects: Chief-of-Staff John Kelly, Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, Defense Secretary Jim Mattis, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, UN Ambassador Nikki Haley, House Speaker Paul Ryan, Economic Adviser Larry Kudlow, and The New York Times.
